Beauty where you can find it

Beauty where you can find it

There's this pink and orange wall, hiding down a side alley right at the bottom of Granville Street. I peer at it from the bus every time I go to my fitness studio. I shared a picture on this blog recently. It's nothing special, really - the alley is a bit grimy, it's lined with bins and there's pipes and grates everywhere. But I like that wall - it's a splash of colour in a grey space.

And it got me thinking. So much about being happy is about finding the good in everything - in switching your perspective so that you're drawn to the positive, rather than the negative, of a situation. If you can see the colours, not the dirt, you're bound to feel better.

Ok, this isn't a self-help blog, and sometimes things are undeniably, irrefutably shit. But, as silly as it sounds, that random pink and orange wall sums up what I want this blog to be about: not all glossy images, unicorns and rainbows, but snatches from a life that's flawed and imperfect; sometimes awesome and exciting, sometimes boring and hard. Scraps of writing that celebrate the beauty of words, but can also be sad and difficult to write. A blog that doesn't sugarcoat, but still celebrates the positive. Details. Moments.

I want Bambi Jane to seek the loveliness in all of these things. I want it to be a blog that's about beauty, in whatever that form may be, wherever I can find it.
